The Hawk was developed by Hawker Siddeley (now BAE) after it became apparent that the SEPECAT Jaguar would be too complex to fulfill the advanced trainer role it was initially commissioned for. The aircraft is also used as a low cost fighter and is most famously used by the RAF Red Arrows Display Team. The Hawk entered service in 1976 and is still in production in the UK and in India and has been sold to 18 operators around the world.
