The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II is a supersonic fighter-bomber originally developed for the United States Navy. It first entered service in 1960 and was subsequently adopted by both the U.S. Air force and The U.S. Marine Corps as well as the armed forces of 11 other nations. A total of 5,195 Phantoms were built and It set 15 world records for in-flight performance. The RAF retired their combat Phantoms in 1992, and the USA did the same in 1996. However some nations still have the Phantom in active service.
